Stunning Daum Nancy ''Paysage de Pluie'' vase (rain scene) 1900
Product information:
Stunning and very rare Daum Nancy ''Rain vase". A refined Art Nouveau piece showcasing exceptional enamel and etched decoration. A highly collectible work that reflects the artistic peak of French glassmaking in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The vase is finely etched and enameled with a detailed landscape of silver birch trees moving in wind and rain, rendered with remarkable depth and atmosphere. The composition features rich tones of deep pink and green, with extremely fine surface detailing that enhances the sense of movement and natural realism. The layered glasswork and engraving demonstrate Daum’s mastery of complex decorative techniques.
Daum Frères (French, late 19th/early 20th century) rose to prominence during the Art Nouveau and early Art Deco periods, becoming one of the leading forces in French decorative glass. The factory was known for encouraging experimental techniques such as layered engraving, enameling, and pâte de verre-style effects. After interruptions during World War I, the company adapted its production under Paul Daum, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern stylistic developments while maintaining its artistic identity.
A beautiful and rare collector’s vase, representing the finest tradition of Daum Art Nouveau glass.
