Exceptional and rare! This French Art Nouveau mahogany dining table by Eugène Gaillard for Maison Bing, crafted around 1900, is an outstanding example from the golden age of Art Nouveau design. This elegant antique table perfectly embodies the flowing, organic aesthetics that defined the movement and made Gaillard one of its most celebrated designers.

Crafted from richly figured mahogany, the tabletop displays a stunning flame grain with a beautifully composed veneer pattern, clearly visible throughout the surface. The warm, deep tones of the wood combined with the exceptional craftsmanship give the table a luxurious and refined presence from every angle. The sculptural base is a true masterpiece: four uniquely shaped arches flow gracefully beneath the tabletop and converge into a central support, creating soft and fluid forms inspired directly by nature. The four legs are richly carved and finished with the characteristic Art Nouveau curves and organic detailing that define Gaillard’s work. Every element feels harmonious, elegant, and masterfully executed.

The table extends from 160 cm (approximately 63 inches) to an impressive 300 cm (approximately 118 inches), making it ideal for both intimate dining settings and larger gatherings. The extension mechanism remains solid and practical while seamlessly integrating into the overall design. The original extension leaves are no longer present, which is often the case with antique dining tables of this period. Two old veneer restorations have been professionally performed on the tabletop, visible in the close-up photographs. These restorations remain very minor and are not immediately noticeable to the eye.

Eugène Gaillard (1862–1933) was one of the leading French designers of the Art Nouveau movement and an important contributor to the famous Maison de l’Art Nouveau of Siegfried Bing in Paris. Gaillard became renowned for his highly organic furniture designs, inspired by natural forms such as plants, trees, and flowing botanical lines. His work emphasized craftsmanship, sculptural elegance, and the harmonious integration of decorative arts into daily life. Alongside contemporaries such as Louis Majorelle and Émile Gallé, Gaillard helped shape the international success of French Art Nouveau at the turn of the century. Today, his rare surviving works are highly sought after by collectors and are represented in important museums and private collections worldwide.
