This elegant Art Nouveau guéridon was designed by Émile Gallé, circa 1900, and is a refined example of his signature marquetry craftsmanship. The shaped tabletop features a delicate floral composition with thistle plants, their slender stems and spiked blossoms beautifully rendered in contrasting wood veneers. The piece is signed “Gallé” in inlaid wood.

The walnut base has a soft, organic form with gracefully curved legs and a shaped lower tier that echoes the movement of the tabletop. Its flowing lines give the table a light, natural, and highly refined presence, typical of Gallé’s nature-inspired design language.

The tabletop shows an age-related crack line due to natural wood drying, along with some older inlaid restorations. These are consistent with the piece’s age and long history of use and do not detract from its overall decorative character.
